Book Review: Blindsided and Sidelined (LSU series) by Becca Steele

These books were simply wonderful! I'd never read Becca Steele before, though I'd seen her books recommended a lot. I started with Blindsided, book 1 in the LSU series, finished in a night and immediately downloaded book 2.

They're set in a fictional London university, focusing on the lives and relationships of a bunch of students that live in student houses on the same street. The first thing that hits you is how wonderfully British they are. I love college books, but the American college experience is completely alien to me, so it was nice to read something set in the familiar world of a British uni.

The humour woven through these books is again, delightfully British. The self-deprecating way the gorgeous, clever and totally clueless characters talk about themselves had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. I loved the character development as well. Feeling genuinely attached to the main characters is always a major positive for me.

Blindsided follows the relationship of Noah and Liam, which literally starts with a bang! (A minor car accident, get your minds out of the gutter!) This causes them to strongly dislike each other, a factor that complicates the fact that they are housemates at uni, and that they are very attracted to each other.

This is an opposites-attract, enemies-to-lovers, bi-awakening, university book. It is filled with tropes and I am here for it. I love it when my favourite tropes are done well, and they certainly are here. There are also brilliant steamy scenes and a healthy dose of intense possessiveness.

Sidelined follows Eliot and Ander, who feature as secondary characters in Blindsided. The wit and humour from book 1 are delivered again with aplomb. This book is a BFFs-to-Lovers, bi-awakening, instalove, stupid-boys-need-to-just-admit-their-feelings-to-each-other-and-stop-being-stupid story.

It's completely adorable and will leave you with the warm and fuzzies.

I really want to go and read the preceding series, Alstone High, but these books are enemies-to-lovers books about side characters in the LSU books that are in lovely, loving relationships and I just don't know if my heart can handle it!
